We consider Salsa music to be a group of Latin rhythmic styles that contains the clave beat. Popular in salsa today are Son, Mambo, Cha-cha-cha, Rumba, Merengue, Guaracha and Timba, and others. If it respects the Clave it’s Salsa! Here you will find information on Salsa Music, and Dance, Clubs and Places that play Salsa. Articles on Salsa History and Culture and Photographs from around the world, plus Art On-2, an Art Gallery (with two rooms) that shows the work of Mambo and Salsa enthusiasts. Wednesday nights, the inside of the Dallas acropolis transforms into a high-energy, passion-filled, heart-pumping dance floor, where salsa and Bachata reign supreme. Dancers, novice and master alike, come from all over town to move their hips and pivot their feet in the glow of flashing lights and a disco ball under the tutelage. After a quick tutorial class, the DJ cranks up the music. For the rest of the evening, hundreds of dancers pack the floor, twirling elbow to elbow well into the night. Some dress up, some wear jeans, but it’s not about flashy outfits. “Stratos is for dancers or people learning to be dancers compared to the rest of Dallas, it’s underground. Zaguan - Venezuelan Restaurant

Zaguan (Venezolano) zaguan bakery A Venezuelan restaurant With a flare for fine dining 21 Years Providing the highest quality of food and service. A MOSAIC OF STONE AND TILE Zaguan (Venezolano) is the elaborate entry-passage in the grand old colonial homes of Spain and Latin America. Like an announcement of entry into the home, the zaguán is carefully carpeted with a pebble-stone mosaic. Zaguán is a symbol of invitation and Latin history; a literal ground-making of warm Latin hospitality. Strolling on a busy street in many Latin American cities you can peer in through the carved wooden doorway to search out the treasured traditional entry space; each zaguán carries its particular recipe of both family and friendship memory. Signal the official start to a food fest with an appetizer selection from the Uptown menu, such as sweet or green fried plantains ($2.99) or fried yucca ($2.99).  In other words the all-day breakfast menu features croissant-enclosed sandwiches (starting at $2.99) and egg-based favorites such as steak and eggs ($14.99). Specialty dishes from the D magazine award-winner for best Latin lunch, such as the cachapa (a grilled sweet-corn turnover stuffed with cheese, veggies, and either beef or chicken, $8.95 for lunch) and the grilled tilapia Bogotá ($9.95), are known to make loyalists out of the most closed-minded of culinary skeptics.  For instance downtown express menu includes some of the same dishes with the on-the-go diner in mind; prices vary slightly by location. Zaguan selection of Latin American sodas ($1.85 and up) and fresh-fruit smoothies ($3.49 and up) offer a pleasing accompaniment to any of the fresh dishes, and sweet breads, such as the guava and cheese ($2.69+) or coconut bread ($1.49+), make excellent carby accompaniments for any meal or mid-meal snack.  Stop poaching sweet treats from your Colombian neighbor’s dessert tree, and snag the award-winning alfajores (vanilla-cookie sandwich filled with dulce de leche, $1.84), among other delicacies.  Above all head to Uptown for an enjoyable sit-down feast of authentic eats. Or, if you’re near the Republic Center, swing through the express location for a quick bite that won’t slow down a chase sequence involving yourself and sharks with legs and lungs.
